Well, technically Springfield MO Coffee and Cars, but same thing. My first time seeing the new GT outside of a manufacturer car show. There’s 3 here locally and this one gets driven a ton.
This would’ve been a great pic if there hadn’t been so many people around.
They also had 2 Giallo gated manual Gallardos which was neat.
RIP Model 3
And on the way back, I saw this shocking, unexpected site:
Overall, an enjoyable time and I’ll be sure to go next month.

I’m exhibiting my Jaguar at the British Car show near Chicago tomorrow. I actually haven’t been to that many car shows and this is my first time exhibiting.

Speed holes are an extra cost DLC upgrade.

Whey does the Ford GT have to look so good? Can’t we be mad at Ford for making a $600k supercar with the wrong engine? But noooo, they had to go and make it look like that .

I went here today:

I went to last year’s show with a friend. He was displaying his 1974 Aston Martin V8, and he was offered a 2nd spot for his 09 (?) V8 Vantage. Since his wife had 0 desire to drive it, I was offered the keys. It was a blast driving the car, and the show itself was amazing!
If they’re there, get yourself some bacon and sausage sandwiches from Spencer’s Jolly Posh . I’d be going again this year, but I’m heading to LA on a 5am flight out of ORD.
Here are some of my pics from last year:

It really does. I saw one on the road (in ‘67 Herritage livery, no less ) and it looked like someone was driving a racecar from the future on the street.

Lotus was again well represented. I was told attendance was way down probably because rain. Met a few nice fellow series II and III XJ6 owners. Didn’t take many pics but here’s a few.

There is no space for bigger engine. The engine bay is basically a glove for it. Also it was to keep weight down. But I do agree in some ways, wish it had Straight Six Barra instead. It would have been a Hypercar instead of a Supercar. +1000HP Barra!!!

Awesome to see a Ford GT being street-driven, even if “a lot” probably means 2k miles a year.
Also love its DGAF interior. It’s all business and doesn’t care to entertain.

2000 miles is more than most will be driven in the next 10 years

It makes good power, but it was absolutely an Ecoboost marketing excersize designed to help sell trucks. They could have put a modified Voodoo in there, or a version of the new GT500 motor, or anything like that and there would have been 0 controversy over it and the car still would have won.

The profile is certainly aided by the small engine, but I think they could have squeezed in a V8 if they wanted to. For the price, they could have even made it unique to the car, and it wouldn’t need to be big- McLaren and Ferrari are going sub 4 liters and still making big power.

Actually, at a Coffee and Cars the Mustangs all depart in a quiet, orderly fashion.
so, it’s completely different.

Surprisingly, not many Mustangs. Burnouts and revving are strictly forbidden, as well as standing by the street. It’s very well organized, I must admit

“organized”???
Wow. It really IS the opposite of an LA Cars and Coffee!

100% agreed. My last Chicagoland area Supercar Saturday saw an 05 and 18 (19)? Heritage GT pull up together.

Man, that’s cool. Seeing those two together must have been quite an experience. I’m guessing the same owner?
I t’s interesting how the ‘ 05 doesn’t look dated sitting next to the ‘18 GT. They’re both timeless deigns.

It’s very interesting seeing both iterations of the car next to each other. On one hand, the ‘05 is a perfect physical successor to the OG GT40. It’s loud, brash, and is a perfect update to the original.
The new GT IMO is the perfect spiritual successor to the GT40. The GT40 was light years ahead of everything from the USDM manufacturers, but it had a lot of ingenuity to beat Ferrari at its own game. This car takes some of that cleverness and builds upon it for today’s generation of supercars.

I think you nailed it saying the ‘ 05 and ‘ 18 are physical and spiritual successors to the GT40. The new GT maintains the aesthetic of the GT40 while also being extremely evolved (flying butresses, seriously?) but you can’t mistake it for anything else. It’ll be interesting to see if GM lets the Corvette plat form play in th e higher end of the market under the Cadillac brand; if VW can maintain La mborghini, Porsche, Be ntley, Audi and Bugatti I don’t see why GM can’t make another sports ca r, an R8 to the Corvette's Huracan . There’s even precedent with the XLR.
